from your despatch under acknowledgment

that you are in general accord with the
retrenchment committee and with the
Captain Superintendent, I have already
informed you in my telegram of the 19th
instant, that, as regards pensions and
bonuses, you should be guided by my
despatch No.279 of the 14th of Decem-
ber 1892, to the terms of which I still
adhere.
4. I am not prepared to insist
upon compulsory commutation of pensions
in any case, as suggested in the 189th
and 201st paragraphs of the retrenchment
committee's report.
